Great Leaders Build Safety
High performance doesn’t start with pressure. It starts with safety.
Early in my career, I believed performance came from discipline, deadlines and drive.
Two and a half decades in global sales and technology taught me something deeper: People don’t give their best when they’re afraid. They give their best when they feel trusted.
I’ve seen brilliant people stay silent because they feared saying the wrong thing. I’ve seen teams soften difficult truths because they weren’t sure how those truths would land.
Great leaders create a different environment, one where people can challenge ideas, surface problems early, make mistakes, and still think boldly.
Fear may create compliance. Trust creates courage. And courage creates possibility.
Psychological safety isn’t about lowering the bar. It’s about giving people the confidence to reach higher.
Because before we explore the art of the possible, we need something strong enough to stand on. That foundation is TRUST.
